Located in the depths of the Batopilas Ravine, at an altitude of only 420 meters above sea level, it is an odyssey to descend to the town of Batopilas from the top of the mountain range, at more than two thousand three hundred meters, and to enter an almost tropical region within the immensity of the mountain range; rich in history and lavish in terms of natural beauty and the preservation of its ancient buildings.
Its name means closed river or boxed river, according to the name given to the place in their own language by the natives of the region, where groups of Tubares and Rarámuri indigenous people were settled.
To reach this town settled next to the river that bears the same name, you leave Creel along the road to Guachochi and at the Samachique junction, you continue along a spectacular 70-kilometer road.
