The big X of Sebastián

During the construction, various theories emerged as to why a gigantic X had been chosen to occupy such a privileged place at this border site. The reason, ultimately, was quite clear: it was a tribute to Benito Juárez, who managed to change the J to an X in the official name of this nation. The great X, a work by the Chihuahua-born sculptor Enrique Carbajal, better known as Sebastián, is visible from several kilometers away and, since its installation in 2013, marks the location of the Plaza de la Mexicanidad.
