Plaza del Ángel

Fill yourself with history in the main square, the other heart of the city.

The first thing that catches your eye from Libertad Street is the brilliant sculpture of a winged angel, the work of Ricardo Ponzanelli, which crowns a rotating pedestal. The second is the enormous open space that occupies this area, also known as Plaza del Ángel, where civic and artistic events are held, mainly during national holidays. As if knowing it by two names were not enough, in order to strengthen the identity of the people of Chihuahua and to pay tribute to all the local figures who have participated in national history, the place that was once occupied by the Russek building was renovated in 2012. Therefore, now, this pleasant esplanade is also known as Plaza de la Grandeza de Chihuahua.
